04Ordered Dither That Shows Light and Shade With Only Two Glyphs

Instead of mapping brightness to a glyph directly, each cell is compared with a threshold table that varies by position, and only a dot or a filled glyph is printed. With just two glyphs the repeating table makes brightness read as an area ratio, while the board on the right uses one fixed threshold as a plain binary contrast.
