01Words per Minute Counted on a Recent Window

Characters typed divided by five count as words, and only the characters inside the last few seconds are converted to a per minute value instead of dividing by the whole elapsed time, so the line follows a pace change at once while the board on the right averages from the start and reacts late. The window is WINDOW_SEC 5 seconds, and the divisor never drops below MIN_SPAN 2 seconds, so a first-three-keys spike of 39 per minute is pressed down to 18.
